CORPUS CHRISTI - Six suspected prostitutes and one suspected pimp were arrested Friday night as part of sweep in the northwest section of Corpus Christi.
According to police, the six suspected prostitutes were offered the choice to get involved with a new program designed to get them out of their destructive lifestyle.
Only three of the defendants were eligible for the program that would allow the charges dropped if they complied with the demands. If they do not complete the program the defendants would still face prosecution.
The three defendants who were not eligible, based on previous convictions, still accepted help from non-profits.
The Red Cord program can provide substance abuse treatment, health evaluation and treatment, mental health evaluation and treatment, job skills programs, education programs as well as temporary housing at no cost to the offenders.
