Suspected Drunk Driver Freed from Wreckage

CORPUS CHRISTI - A suspected drunk driver had trouble negotiating a turn overnight and crashed at S. Padre Island Drive and Staples Street.

The crash right after 1 a.m. sent the vehicle rolling several times. Emergency crews were able to free the driver as he was trapped in the wreckage.

He was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Police say he'll be charged with driving while intoxicated and was cited for failure to control speed.
