CORPUS CHRISTI - It was an absolutely gorgeous day over the Coastal Bend this afternoon as mostly sunny skies finally made a comeback after a few days of overcast and drizzle. Temperatures rose into the upper 60s, right along seasonal levels, and winds remained fairly light throughout the day. There are some big changes headed our way that will increase clouds and the potential for severe weather by early Tuesday morning into Wednesday as a potent pacific storm system moves closer from the west.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed all of South Texas under a "slight risk" for severe weather on Tuesday and into Wednesday. Some local impacts include heavy rain, damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. At this point, hopefully the severe weather stays minimal and the rainfall is more prevalent. Some residents could pick up as much as 2-4+ inches by the time the system moves out of the area.

Tonight will start off mostly clear; however, clouds will begin to be on the increase through the overnight hours leading to tomorrow morning. Temperatures will still be fairly chilly dropping into the mid to lower 40s with winds out of the north-northeast at 5-10mph.

Monday will be mostly cloudy as clouds will eventually become overcast as temperatures will stay on the cool side in the lower 60s with winds out of the east-northeast at 10-15mph.

The rainfall will likely begin late Monday evening and we will have to watch and monitor the system as it approaches South Texas. We will update with any watches or warnings that may be issued by the National Weather Service.
