CORPUS CHRISTI - Plenty of cloud cover all over South Texas today, courtesy of some low level moisture streaming overhead from the Pacific. Still, temperatures managed to reach the mid to upper 80s with the exception being right along the coastline. Some of the clouds today also led to a few sprinkles in some isolated locations, but most places remained dry.
Tonight, expect partly to mostly cloudy skies to continue with some areas of patch fog again. Overnight lows will only drop to the upper 60s with a southeast wind around 6-12mph.
Sunday will be fairly cloudy all day long and breezy with chances of showers increasing late in the day as a strong cold front approaches South Texas. Due to the front making a late appearance in the day, daytime heating will still occur and very warm temperatures are expected as afternoon highs shoot to the upper 80s. The cold front should arrive late Sunday evening around 11PM-3AM and it will certainly be felt as winds will shift to the northeast and howl around 15-25+mph. It should reach our northern counties a bit earlier. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible along the front as it arrives, but models continue to trend most of the heavier activity to our northeast. Nevertheless, seeing a few storms go near severe limits is not out of the question.
Behind the front, temperatures take a dramatic dip and afternoon highs drop to the mid 50s to lower 60s for the first half of next week. Morning lows in the 30s will be likely area-wide on Tuesday and Wednesday with a freeze possible for our extreme northern counties.
Have a great weekend!
