Strong Cold Front Arrives Christmas Day in South Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI - A bit breezy this afternoon with very warm temperatures as highs were about 10-15 degrees above seasonal average today. The winds are expected to calm down a bit for tonight and into the overnight hours and will cause fog to become very dense in some locations. Residents should use caution if you have plans on driving tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Overnight lows will only drop in the mid to lower 60s under partly to mostly cloudy skies across the area.
Monday, Christmas Eve, will still hold above average temperatures as afternoon highs are expected to top out in the lower 80s with some upper 70s along the coastline as clouds remain in the area. Winds will be variable around 7-14mph with some isolated higher gusts possible.
A strong cold front is still forecasted to reach the area for the first half of Christmas Day, now looking to pass the entire region around the noon time frame. There will only be a very small opportunity for some isolated shower activity as the front moves through as the "likely" rain will be well to the north and east of Corpus Christi. Winds will pick up dramatically however, out of the northwest ranging from 15-30mph with higher gusts likely. Christmas night looks very cold as wind chill values, again courtesy of the windy conditions, will fall into the upper 20s and lower 30s for some areas. So don't forget to take the jacket along if you plan on having outdoor activities.
Temperatures will remain chilly on Wednesday and Thursday of next week with temperatures in the 50s and 60s before the 70s return on Friday, ahead of the next cold front which looks to arrive Friday evening.
