CORPUS CHRISTI - A freshly paved 2.5 mile stretch of FM 665 will remain closed for several days following some trouble with recently laid tar Thursday afternoon.
In addition, TxDOT has made the decision to close a total 10 mile stretch until it is all repaved. The intersections at FM and FM 666 will remain open to cross traffic.
Officials say Brannan Paving of Victoria was working on the road west of Driscoll on Wednesday morning before it rained heavily.
Drivers began calling 911 Thursday afternoon, saying heavy tar building up on their tires caused them to veer off the road.
At least two dozen vehicles, including tractor trailers, got stuck between FM 666 and FM 70.
A big rig was blocking the intersection at FM 665 and FM 70.
Photos from viewers show tires coated with more than an inch of asphalt mix.
TxDOT will have a contractor come out to determine if the cars stuck on the road can drive off, or should be towed.

FM 665 from Highway 77 to County Road 107 is expected to remain closed for several days until the repairs to the road are complete.
