CORPUS CHRISTI - Have something to say about the proposed street user fee to Corpus Christi City Council? The next meeting is tomorrow at 11 a.m. inside City Hall at 1201 Leopard Street.

Residents will be able to make their thoughts known during the normal noon-time public comments section. The time limit per person is three minutes.

There will also be time for public comment at 2 p.m. when the issue comes up for discussion before the council. City officials say you can speak on the matter at noon or 2 p.m., but not both.

When council last met almost three weeks ago they voted 8-1 in favor of the first reading of the ordinance to approve the creation of a street user fee. That ordinance will require a second reading to go into effect.

The more contentious issue is how much homeowners and businesses will be charged based on a second ordinance that sets the rates.

City staff and council agreed previously that a flat $7 per month charge on utility bills would be fair for homeowners and residents.

A difference of opinion prevailed during the last meeting when it came to how to charge businesses.
