Stray Dog Attacks Solomon Coles Student

CORPUS CHRISTI - A Solomon Coles student, on her way to class was attacked by a stray dog this morning.
But neighbors aren't surprised because this dog has been a problem for quite some time.
Solomon Coles Assistant Principal Ronnie Medrano says, "The girl reported and came in with a bite wound where it tore through her blue jeans."
Residents near the school say this isn't the first time they have seen the dog roaming the streets.
Mary Reyes who lives near the school says, "This dog has been running around maybe about three, maybe a month running around. It's a black dog."
According to Reyes, the dog isn't a man's best friend, "They should get it out of the streets because of my grand kids because he is vicious. He was growling at one of my grand kids and she is three years old."
So vicious in fact that Reyes won't let her grand kids anywhere near the dog, "I don't let my grand kids outside because of the dog."
The school called Animal Control to capture the dog so that it wouldn't attack another student. And according to Reyes this isn't the first time Animal Control has been called about this dog. But Animal Control officials say they have no record of previous reports about this dog.
Medrano says, "Safety is our number one concern. We just don't want another student to have a bite or get bitten so we are out here trying to stay in contact with that dog."
Animal Control searched for the dog, they say it may be hiding under a nearby house. Last we checked they still hadn't caught it.
