Storms Across Texas Cause Flooding, Power Outages

DALLAS (AP) - Street flooding has been reported in Houston and San Antonio where storms have left thousands of homes and businesses without electricity.

CenterPoint Energy had more than 5,400 power outages Tuesday amid the rainstorms that slowed travel in the Houston area. CPS Energy reported about 7,900 homes and businesses without power mainly in the San Antonio area.

The National Weather Service says areas of East Texas are under a flash flood watch through Tuesday afternoon. A flash flood watch for far South Texas runs through Tuesday night.

Dallas-based Oncor reported about 6,100 customers without electricity from overnight storms in North Texas. Two Fort Worth firefighters were seriously hurt Monday when they were in an attic and the floor collapsed during a blaze at a house that was struck by lightning.
