CORPUS CHRISTI - Two counterfeiting suspects were arrested by Corpus Christi PD yesterday afternoon following attempts to pass fake $20 bills at a Family Dollar and Stripes Store.
The clerk at the Family Dollar near Weber and Holly told police 20-year-old Apryl Morris and 23-year-old Cody Perez tried to get the cash back after being told it was fake, but they left empty handed.
During that investigation, another call came in about a similar situation at the Stripes store at Weber and Gollihar Road. The clerk told police a woman tried to pay for gas and a pack of cigarettes. When confronted the female suspect just paid for the cigarettes before leaving with a man in a blue Chevy Tahoe.
Officers later came across Morris and Perez at the Walmart in Parkdale Plaza. Both were positively identified by a witness. They're now facing felony charges of forgery.
This is not Cody Perez's first run-in with the law. Last year he was arrested for his alleged involvement with a home invasion on Fleetwood Street. His prior convictions in Nueces County include drug possession, criminal trespass, and auto burglary.
