CORPUS CHRISTI - A suspected drunk driver led police on a brief chase Monday morning.
Just before 1:00 a.m., an officer spotted the driver of a Toyota Camry speeding on the 5000 block of Saratoga Blvd.

To make matters worse, one of the car's tires was down to the rim and it sent sparks flying as the car traveled along the road. The officer pulled the man over but then the driver sped off again.
The chase finally ended when the driver pulled into the parking lot of the H-E-B Plus store. The driver was pulled out of the car at gunpoint and arrested.

He was given a field sobriety test. He told police he took off because he panicked when he saw the police cruiser's flashing lights.
