CORPUS CHRISTI - If you followed MMA 10-years ago, then you probably only knew about the World Champions or maybe the contenders, but chances are you hadn't heard of the prospects and or hopefuls. But with the emergence of social media, new talent can become an overnight household name, if they know how to maximize their audience by making the most of sites like Facebook and Twitter.

"If world champions had Twitter back in the day, they would have more fans than they do now," said local female fighter Paulina Granados.

Locally fighters like Granados and Chris Pecero are building their image by hitting social media sites hard. The two are relentless on Twitter and Facebook sharing videos and images daily.

"Fighting is entertainment and in order to be successful you have to learn how to deal with all angles, Twitter and Facebook," said Pecero.

Granados, who is set to make her professional debut in less than two weeks, has become especially popular having to create her very own Facebook fan Page as she quickly maxed out her personal page.

"I have been promoting myself quite a bit, I got to the point where I couldn't add anyone else on my Facebook page so I created Paulina FireFox Granados and that's my fight page," said Granados.

"Everybody knows we sweat and get dirty and crazy but they wanna know how sweaty and dirty we get at the house changing diapers and what not," said Pecero who has a wife and kids.

Both fighters will be in action on Saturday March 23rd at the American Bank Center each fighting on the Rock's Extreme MMA II Card, headlined by Hector Munoz.
