CORPUS CHRISTI - A representative from Reytec Construction came by Smith Elementary today to pick up get well cards made by students for the two workers injured in a concrete slab collapse this week.
The two men suffered injuries to their legs while cutting the slab at a job sight in front of the school. Students who were still at school during the time say the building shook when the concrete slab fell.
Children were concerned about how the men were doing as they've become an everyday sight for the children as they work on widening Williams Drive.
"They have become part of our family. We wave at each other, we know when they are working.. when they are not working. So when we heard what happened and we went out there, we were very concerned. It was very scary," Principal RoseMary Garza said.
OSHA is currently looking into the construction site accident.
