ROCKPORT - Officials with Aransas County ISD say students affected by this morning's fire within a wing of Rockport High School are still in classes, just different classrooms.
Around 8:00 a small fire started in the boy's bathroom of what used to be the junior high. Fire officials say only a towel rack burned and fell in the trash can, but smoke filled the entire wing.
Everyone got out safely. Crews spent the morning airing out the building with large fans before allowing everyone back into the buildings around 10 a.m.
School officials say police detained someone after the fire. They did not provide specifics on whether that person is a student.
No word on when the foreign language hall will reopen.
