Skidmore-Tynan Chooses Stephen Silva as New Football Coach/AD

SKIDMORE - Skidmore-Tynan has announced a new football coach/athletic director, and it's a familiar name to the Coastal Bend football community. Stephen Silva spent time as an assistant coach at Beeville and more recently Alice, and will now lead the Bobcats. Skidmore-Tynan released the following on the hire:

Monday, May 13, 2013, the Skidmore-Tynan Board of Trustees made it official that Coach Stephen Silva will be S-T ISD's new Athletic Director/Head Football Coach. This approval for this selection was given after a month-long search and interview process led by a community-based committee of Bobcat Alumni and administrative staff. Special thanks go to Daniel Naranjo, Bucky Haws, Beth Gonzales, and Carroll Lohse for their volunteer service and effort.
Coach Silva joins the S-T team with 16 years of educational experience with time spent in Mathis, Beeville and Alice.

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Brett Belmarez, remarked that "The Bobcats and Lady Cats are excited to get to work with and for Coach Silva. And we know that our success will be determined by all of our willingness to work very hard and to work together, welcoming Coach Silva to lead our athletic endeavors."

Coach Silva earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A & M, Kingsville, August 10, 1997 and his Master of Science in Education Administration from the same institution December 12, 2007.

Coach Silva brings a vast wealth of football and athletic knowledge with him as he takes the helm of next year's athletic program. He was assistant Athletic Director at Alice for the last 3 years and was the defensive coordinator during their Area Champion/Regional Semifinalist run in the 2012 football playoffs. Coach Silva also was an integral part of the Beeville A.C. Jones football teams that made it to the Regional semifinal game in 2007 and were area champions in 2008.

Coach and Mrs. Silva and family reside in Beeville.
