Information from the Texas Department of Transportation

CORPUS CHRISTI - The installation of three new overhead signs directing motorists to North Beach and its attractions will require the closing of lanes on the Harbor Bridge and the Nueces Bay Causeway on Wednesday and Wednesday night (March 6, 2013).

Weather permitting, crews will close the two, northbound right lanes of US 181 at the base of the Harbor Bridge from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday to install a new overhead sign reading: Texas State Aquarium, USS Lexington, North Beach, Exit 1 Mile.

This also will require the closure of all northbound ramps from downtown Corpus Christi. Northbound traffic will be required to take I 37 west, exit on Brownlee, take the turnaround and re-enter I 37 to go north over the Harbor Bridge. If crews are unable to complete the sign installation Wednesday, the work will continue Thursday night with the same closures.

Also Wednesday, crews will close the right, southbound lane of the Nueces Bay Causeway from Portland to North Beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to install two new overhead signs. The first sign will read: North Beach Next 2 Exits. The second sign near the south end of the causeway will indicate the exit for Beach Avenue and North Beach.

Traffic control will be in place. Motorists should allow extra travel time and be aware of road crews operating in the work zone.
