CORPUS CHRISTI - Sheriff Jim Kaelin says his office is looking into Judge Tom Greenwell's personal life and financial records, plus seeking more information from two 'persons of interest', as the investigation into the judge's suicide continues.
Sheriff Kaelin says there was something going on in Greenwell's life that he felt committing suicide was his only option.
According to investigators, Judge Greenwell died as early as 12:45 p.m. Monday from a single gunshot wound to the head. Almost 6 hours later a member of a cleaning crew at the courthouse found his body with a pistol nearby.
Greenwell reportedly had several phone conversations before taking his own life. Investigators say they also found a handwritten last will and testament. We're told it's not a suicide note and did not contain any information to explain what was going on in his life.
The judge was on vacation and wasn't due back at work until next Monday for a murder trial.
