CORPUS CHRISTI - A registered sex offender accused of kidnapping a woman and raping her several times is now out on bail. Rudy Rubio was arrested last month at his auto shop based on a woman's claims that he impersonated a police officer and grabbed her off the street.
According to the arrest affidavit, the woman told officers she was blindfolded, threatened with a knife, and taken to Rubio's auto shop where she was repeatedly sexually assaulted.
She told police that once people started showing up for work at the shop, she was told to keep quiet and calm while being led outside. The woman told police her attacker dropped her off back at her car on a southside street.
Authorities obtained a warrant for Rubio's arrest based on the victim picking his photo out of a lineup. But it wasn't until a middle of the night alarm call at his shop that police were able to track him down. Police say he tried to run and even fought with officers.
Rubio is registered as a sex offender in Nueces County based on his 2005 convictions for multiple counts of indecency with a child.
