CORPUS CHRISTI - A judge has ruled one of the teens accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl last year will be tried separately from the other defendants.
According to police, Jacob Musich, 18, is the only defendant who sexually assaulted the young girl. Eric Dimick, 17, and Colton Visor, 18, will be tried in a separate trial. The defendants will return to court for another pre-trial hearing early next month.
Police say the girl was kidnapped as she walked alongside her bike on Braesvalley Drive last year. Officers searched frantically for the girl based on suspect and vehicle descriptions from a young boy who was with her at the time of the kidnapping.
The girl told police she was blindfolded in the back of a large vehicle as one man raped her. A little over an hour after she was reported missing, she was found on Padre Island.
The teens were arrested days later. According to the arrest affidavit, a witness claims he overheard the three defendants talking about kidnapping someoen and Dimick admitted to kidnapping the girl.
All three face charges of aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault of a child.
