Security Personnel Found Dead on Maersk Alabama

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A company spokesman says the Maersk Alabama has left port after authorities in the island nation of Seychelles completed an onboard investigation into the deaths of two Americans aboard the ship, featured the film "Captain Phillips."

The American security officers were found dead in a cabin Tuesday. The Navy said Thursday that one is a former Navy SEAL. Maersk also said Thursday that the ship was underway.

Jean Toussaint, spokesman for Seychelles police, says, "As far as I know there is no evidence of physical trauma" on either body. Police await autopsies. Toussaint says he can't comment on the report that the ship had been cleared to leave.

Virginia-based Maersk Line Limited says the deaths weren't related to ship duties.

The Norfolk-based Alabama became famous after a 2009 Somali pirate hijacking dramatized in the movie "Captain Phillips."

AP writer Jason Straziuso in Nairobi, Kenya, contributed to this report.
