Schulz Earns Spot on NHL Central Scouting List

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Corpus Christi IceRays defenseman Jalen Schulz was noticed this past weekend by scouts at the NAHL Showcase and landed a spot on the NHL Central Scouting list for potential 2013 NHL Draft Picks.
Schulz is one of six North American Hockey League players to be named on the prospect list following the Showcase.
"Central Scouting focuses on draft eligible players, and this year like every other we have a large class of potentials," said head coach Justin Quenneville. "Our younger players played well this past weekend and Jalen clearly got some attention from Central Scouting."
The NHL Central Scouting reveals a talented group of players to watch in North America and possible 2013 NHL Draft picks.
Last season, the IceRays had Anthony Stolarz drafted to the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2nd round of the 2012 NHL Draft from Pittsburgh, PA. Stolarz made his first splash at the NAHL Showcase where he was first noticed.
"Jalen has a ton of potential and sees the game very well at his age," Quenneville added. "We are excited about the learning curve all our players are showing and will look to continually develop players to their highest potential."
In the Showcase to start off the season, the IceRays went 2-1-1 in four games while Schulz appeared in two of those four contests.
The other players from the NAHL who made the list were Brett Beauvais (Kalamazoo K-Wings), Ryan Callahan (Bismarck Bobcats), Connor Lemirande (Janesville Jets), Michael Sabatini (Soo Eagles), and Evan Cowley (Wichita Falls Wildcats).
The IceRays are on the road this weekend as they take on the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Puck drops at 7:15PM.
