SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police killed a man suspected in the assault of a woman when he emerged from his house with a rifle after barricading himself inside.
Police Chief William McManus tells the San Antonio Express-News that the suspect had crashed his sport utility vehicle into a neighbor's fence to cover up the assault. The woman then ran away and called police early Monday morning.
When officers arrived, the suspect refused to come out of his house. When he emerged, he had a rifle and was shot dead.
His body, on the home's front porch, was covered by a yellow tarp shortly afterward.
The woman is hospitalized. Her injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.
