CORPUS CHRISTI - There will be no postseason for the Hammerheads, thanks to last night's 82-75 defeat at the hands of San Angelo. The Stampede claimed the head-to-head matchup, ending the fishes' hope at the playoffs.
The game was flat-out a shootout, with defenses barely visible.
with the two combining for 157 points
Remember, the Hammerheads reached the IFL championship game the last three seasons before the merger.
So, no postseason is pretty much uncharted territory for the team.
Hammerheads Defensive End Myqual Spann told KRIS 6 Sports, "We had a lot of tough breaks this year. We lost a couple of games by just one or two plays and normally we would pull those out."
"We had a lot of expectations going in but we lost about five games by a total of 12 points, so we were right there on the verge. We just had some things that went against us," added Hammerheads Offensive Coordinator Timon Marshall.
