CORPUS CHRISTI - A judge set bond for Rudy Rubio at $150,000 on charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault. The owner of Rubio's Automotive is accused of impersonating a police officer as he grabbed a young woman from her car, took her to his business and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
The 50-year-old is a registered sex offender with prior convictions on multiple counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact.
Police caught up with Rubio this morning at his shop when they came by to check out an alarm call.
A judge told Rubio this afternoon that if he makes bond, he must surrender his passport and remain in the county. He's also been ordered to take an HIV test within the next 30 days.
The victim described a horrific ordeal to investigators.We spoke with the victim earlier on the phone. She tells us that this whole situation is very hard for her and her family.
She said that she prayed through the entire attack just hoping to see the light of day, and is so grateful to be able to see her family again. So now she says she is just trying to get her life back on track.
