Routine Traffic Stop Almost Turns Deadly

COPRUS CHRISTI- Things almost took a deadly turn when a traffic stop led to a brief slow-speed pursuit.
Police say a 24-year-old man wouldn't stop after attempts to pull him over on Greenwood near West Point.
He drove about 4 blocks into a nearby apartment complex and opened the door of his car, displaying a gun.
Officers quickly drew their guns and the guy decided to surrender.
After a search of his car, officers found cocaine and illegal pills on the front seat.
He was taken to jail and will be charged with manufacture of a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
