APOPKA, Fla. - Mitt Romney is spending a second day campaigning in Florida -- drawing on the success of his debate performance, and carrying a populist message.
Romney told supporters last night, "These are tough years for the middle class and the poor in America." He has a rally set for this afternoon in Port St. Lucie.
President Barack Obama is on a California fundraising trip after a couple of days of upbeat news -- the Friday jobs report showing the unemployment rate down to 7.8 percent, and the September totals that showed that his campaign and the Democrats raised $181 million for the month.
The numbers may give Obama a lift after a lackluster debate against Mitt Romney.
Even a top Obama campaign adviser, Robert Gibbs, concedes that Romney delivered a "masterful, masterful performance."
But Gibbs tells ABC that he doesn't think Romney's positions -- or the campaign itself -- have changed.
