PORTLAND - The father of a 4-year-old boy killed in a crash this morning near Portland says his wife remains is still being treated in the intensive care unit of Spohn Memorial Hospital, but should make a full recovery.
A state trooper says Tyrone Davis' son, Tayden, was thrown from the family's Chevy Tahoe in a rollover crash on County Road 2004 as the mother took the kids to school.
Sheriff Leroy Moody says the mother swerved to miss a rock, lost control, and flipped at least three times.
Kasara Marie Escamilla, her 8-year-old daughter, and a 3-year-old nephew were taken to the hospital. Young Tayden died at the scene.
It's not clear if the children were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The Texas Department of Public Safety is handling the investigation.
