ROCKPORT - The Rockport-Fulton tennis domination continues. The Pirates won the district 30-3A boy's and girl's title for the third consecutive season on Friday. It wasn't just a win; it was a clean sweep.
The girl's singles title went to R-F junior Alli McLain (no surprise). McLain's title makes it three straight years she has won the district crown - all three years that she has been a Pirate. Watch out for McLain making a state run - she finished third last year.
The boy's singles title also went to R-F in Chad Harrison. Harrison, who has previously won a doubles crown, defeated teammate Joseph Krupa in the championship match.
The girl's doubles title was a match-up between two Pirate teams, Anna Miller and Kim Silva won the title.
The boy's doubles title - guess who - also won by R-F. Brandon Camp and Brennen Nguyen teamed up for the crown.
The mixed doubles title - you guessed it - R-F's Whitley Langord and Carson Jahn win to make it a Pirate sweep of the five events.
It's been a great run for Rockport-Fulton tennis the last three years, and when asked about it, the Pirates are quick to point out teamwork.
"It's definitely a team thing," McLain said. "There is no I in team and we definitely go by the same here. It's always a team and we work together and help each other and we cooperate."
"As a team it's really big for us," Harrison said. "We strive to get this every year and now we're just looking forward to region and that's another big team thing we're going for."
A number of Pirates are headed to regionals, which will be held at the H-E-B Tennis Center in Corpus Christi on April 17th and 18th.
