ROBSTOWN -- It's only been open for a few months...but by tonight it's expected the new Irma V. Romero Elementary School -- in Robstown -- will be renamed.
It's expected to happen during a school board meeting that starts at 6:00 tonight.
It's listed under item seven to discuss and consider finalizing the name change of Romero Elementary to Robert Driscoll, Jr. Elementary.
Although the wording reads *consider* finalizing the name change...the school board president says it's a done deal.
The Irma V. Romero Elementary School was named after a long time teacher who died of breast cancer.
Her husband -- former School Board President Osvaldo Romero -- who's still on the board -- picked members of a committee to name the school, last year.
He says he followed the rules and never voted in the process.
But now, the new School Board President -- Adolfo Lopez -- says the entire board should've helped select the committee, not just Romero.
Lopez says a majority of school board members voted to change the school's name to Robert Driscoll, they're just finalizing it tonight.
