Robstown Man Admits to Stabbing Mother to Death

ROBSTOWN - A son is jailed for the murder of his mother overnight. Robstown police say Gualberto Marines III admitted to stabbing Rosa Linda Marines to death during an argument at their home on Western Avenue.

We're told by police that the son has a history of mental health issues that he's supposed to treat with medications.

What's unclear about last night was whether or not he was taking those medications.

We talked with a woman who didn't want to identify herself but said she was a good friend of Rosa Linda Marines'.

She said she's not surprised by what happened, and added that Marines told her that her son had threatened her numerous times before.

"She was always talking about him trying to be stabbing her, trying to stab her," the woman says.

This same friend told us that Rosa Linda Marines was the primary care-taker for her son, and that she received his social security checks.

Checks that he may have started to want to receive for himself.

"He was always fighting with her because he wanted the card, and she said I cannot give it you because you're going to spend it in one day," the woman says.

Gualberto Marines III is charged with murder and is being held without bond.
