SINTON - A woman responsible for causing a fatal accident near Mathis is heading to prison. A judge sentenced Hannah Roberts to 16 years in prison after she plead guilty to three counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
In September 2012, Roberts was driving drunk when her vehicle collided head-on with a Volkswagen on I-37. The crash killed 19-year-old Joanna Garcia, 22-year-old Harrison Curbello, and 18-year-old Celeste Gauna.
The same judge who sentenced Roberts today rejected her plea deal with prosecutors back in May. Both sides had agreed to a 10 year prison sentence.
