Robbery Victim Goes After Suspects with a Wrench

CORPUS CHRISTI - A man who fought with an armed robber over the weekend got away with his life, but the other man and a woman got away with his wallet and cell phone.

The 57-year-old victim told police he was sitting in his car at the park on North Beach when someone put a knife to his throat and demanded his wallet. He refused, but the man stole his cell phone and wallet anyway.

Right after the robbery, the victim grabbed a wrench and took off after the man. He lost the wrench during the fight before being cut a couple of times on his face and head.

He later told officers his attacker was a stocky Hispanic male accompanied by a heavyset Hispanic. Both suspects had short hairstyles.

If you have any information on the robbery, call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS, or submit a tip online at
