OKLAHOMA - It's about as improbable as finding a needle in a hay stack.
In this case, its a wedding ring lost in a landfill.
This morning, the amazing story of an Oklahoma City man and the search for his lost ring.
Gary McNeil, a veterinarian, his wife Barbara McNeil. married ten years. bound by the symbol of a wedding ring.
Dr. Gary McNeill said, "You lose your ring? That's not a good oman."
But he did.
Dr. Gary McNeill, said, "I take my ring off and set it on the corner of the surgery table."
And with that motion the wedding ring was gone. Little did he know his ring was on a journey. A journey he would soon be taking himself. To the city landfill. You see the ring fell off that table and landed in the trash can.
His ring was on a truck and about to make a life-long commitment to waste.
Shawn Cockrell with waste management picked up the phone. He's only had two of these lost ring calls in 17 years.
So he found the truck the ring was traveling on and told the Mcneills to head over.
Dr. Gary McNeill, said, "Of all the places I take my wife to the trash dump."
Barbara McNeill, Gary's Wife, said, "I start cracking jokes and laughing hysterically."
All they could do is laugh and dig.
Dr. Gary McNeill said, "I tore this sack open and dropped it on a cardboard box and the ring fell out right on the corner of that cardboard box and I said yes!"
An adventure to the dump makes the ring that much sweeter.
