ARANSAS PASS - There must be something in the water separating Port Aransas and Aransas Pass as both boys basketball teams have advanced to the Region Tournament. The only other area school is West Oso.

"We hope they go far and we go far and we are ready to play basketball," said Panthers Guard Troy Galvan.

The Panthers will face Halletsville on Friday night in Seguin, while the Marlins get undefeated Mumford Friday afternoon at New Braunfels Canyon.

"I kinda feel like everyone thinks because they are undefeated they will be on top but we're gonna see what we can do about that," said Marlins Post Jake Roberts.

"Its gonna be a battle, I mean blood and sweat, but this is the game we have wanted all year long," added Marlins Guard Blake Goodwin.

This marks the second straight season Port Aransas has advanced to the Class A Region Tournament, but last year didn't go as planned, as the guys were knocked out of the tourney in their first game.

Aransas Pass meanwhile is in somewhat unchartered territory as the no player on the Panthers roster had ever won a playoff game until this season, so this trip will be a brand new experience for the players.

"There is nobody on the team who has been in this spot it's all hit and miss and we feel like we can play with them now," said Panthers Guard Colin Hale.

"I think we will be nervous but we'll do fine," added Panthers Post Hunter Isom.

Most critics consider AP a favorite to win their Region, while others believe Port Aransas is an underdog despite being ranked 4th in the State Polls.

"We know we can play no matter how big we are we can play," said Marlins Guard Caleb Rogers.

We will have highlights from both games on Friday Night.
