CORPUS CHRISTI - Drilling technology that's being used to extract oil from the Eagle Ford Shale Formation is causing concern among some researchers.

Fracking is a process that uses high pressure injections of water, sand, and chemicals to release oil and gas trapped in shale.

A study being done by researchers at Texas A&M Corpus Christi is looking at possible negative impact by activities like fracking on the state's water supply.

The concern is that fracking could put too much of a demand on our water supply over the next 20 years.

Just last month however, a task force created by the Texas Railroad Commission found that fracking accounts for about six percent of water use in Texas.
