CORPUS CHRISTI - Police are investigating a series of thefts at apartment complexes on the northwest part of town.
One of those complexes is the the Costa Tarragona Apartments.
Someone is stealing money orders from the drop box, changing the name on the orders to their name, and cashing the orders at local stores in the area.
The apartment complex is giving people a break while police investigate the thefts, but ultimately, it's those residents that have to pay that money.
We obtained copies of some of the money orders that have been doctored, and each time, it's the same name, Assanna Marie Haynes.
Residents tell us they want this woman caught so they can recover their funds and feel safe about using that drop box again.
"It's very concerning," resident Arthur Carrillo says, "It's very concerning that people are coming to our front office and taking something that does not belong to them."
Costa Tarragona tells us they've sent a letter out to as many of the local stores in the area as they can, telling them to be on the look-out for this woman, and to cash the money orders she brings in.
Police are urging all victims to come forward and file police reports.
They're also looking for any surveillance video from these stores.
