REFUGIO - A Refugio high school star athlete is in big trouble.
19 year old Travis Quintanilla was arrested for D.W.I. earlier this week, and spent a night in jail.
The timing on this couldn't be worse.
Quintanilla is a star football and baseball player for Refugio High School.
In fact, he got a scholarship to play both sports for Texas A&M Kingsville in the fall.
But now, that's all in jeopardy.
His family says Quintanilla was arrested in the high school parking lot after police saw him doing donuts with his car.
We're told Quintanilla was out celebrating his 19th birthday with friends.
His family tells us they'll find out tonight if he'll be suspended from school.
Texas A&M Kingsville says they don't have enough information to determine whether or not this will affect his scholarship.
His Grandmother, Zulema Moya, hopes Refugio High School and Texas A&M Kingsville go easy on him.
"Yes I do. I wish they take his side and give him a break. That's all I'm asking, give him a break. He's young. You've been young once. We've all been reckless one time or another. So, he needs a chance," Moya says.
Quintanilla led Refugio High School to the State football Championship Game this season, and he's thrown for more yards and touchdowns than any other quarterback in the history of Texas.
Quintanilla wrote on Facebook that he takes full responsiblity for his actions and is sorry.
