REFUGIO -- A sex offender who was ordered to sell his home as part of his plea bargain is still listed as the homeowner on county records.
Raymond Ramirez Sr., 65, was ordered to sell his house because it is down the road from a daycare. But Ramirez, who was ordered to sell the house by Oct. 18, is still listed as the house's co-owner (the other is his wife, Sue.)
Ramirez pleaded guilty in July 2012 to sexual indecency with a 5-year-old girl. In exchange for his guilty plea, Ramirez received six months in jail and ten years probation with several conditions.
According to court documents, Ramirez' attorney filed a motion arguing Ramirez' house was "...not with[in] one-thousand (1,000) feet from where sex offenders cannot reside." But there is no record of a judge ever granting or denying that request.
Judge Skipper Koetter of the 24th Judicial District Court did, however, grant two of Ramirez' requests, removing conditions that required him to pay a fee to a children's advocacy center and attend counseling sessions.
No one answered the door at Ramirez' house Monday afternoon.
A phone call to Ramirez' attorney, Tali Villafranca, was not returned.
