CORPUS CHRISTI - You don't need to throw your Christmas tree in the trash this year, you can recycle it! This morning and afternoon the city's Solid Waste Operations department held recycling events around the area. The one at Walmart on Staples collected 452 trees by 2:00 PM. The trees will be recycled into mulch. Volunteers helped to put the event together and they say it's a lot of fun.
Vincent Clark said, "You meet new people. it's a blast and it's a friendly environment."
If you missed this recycling event, they're holding another one next weekend. Below is a list of places accepting the trees from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 12th:
• Padre Island Property Owners Association - 14015 Fortuna Bay Drive
• Flour Bluff High School - 2505 Waldron Road (High School Gymnasium parking lot)
• Wal-Mart - Flour Bluff Drive and S.P.I.D.
• Wal-Mart - 6101 Saratoga at Cimarron
