ROCKPORT - Kendra Baird has never experienced serious flooding, but last night she found herself standing in water over a foot deep to just to get into her own house.

"It was coming in under the door, and then in my son's bedroom in the back, and then we have a French Door and it came in through there also," said Baird.

The water came barreling through her home, giving Baird just enough time to bring her kids to dry land. She dropped off her children with some friends and family members and returned home less than 30 minutes later. When she returned home, the water had risen to such high levels that she couldn't open the door to her home because of the water pressure.

"I was up to my thighs in the driveway," said Baird.

Eventually, she pushed her way into the house hoping she could save some of her belongings, but it was too late.

"By the time we got back, everything was floating on the floor. We had to pick up some more furniture, got the dog, and got out," said Baird.

She evacuated her flooding home as quickly as possible, returning this morning to survey the damage.

"We've got some of the flooring that has come up and you can see where the floor is just bubbled all over," Baird said.

Baird's children are still with friends and family and she is unsure as to when her house will be livable once again.

Despite all of the destruction, Baird still remains optimistic.

"There's just not much we can do, just wait," she said.
