CORPUS CHRISTI - After shattering the record high yesterday afternoon with a temperature of 87 degrees, we will likely do that again this afternoon as temperatures should spring upwards back into the upper 80s ahead of strong cold front that will arrive late tonight.

Today, expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and very windy conditions. Winds will be around 15-25mph out of the south with higher gusts possible. The record this afternoon is 84 degrees set back in 1978 and we should hover around 87-88 later this afternoon.

Tonight, there will be a few clouds and winds will take a dramatic shift to the north around 1-4AM as the front barrels through the Coastal Bend with winds increasing to 20-30mph with gusts as high as 45 especially along the coast. Boaters and mariners should use extreme caution on the waters as Small Craft Advisories and Gale Watches are posted until tomorrow. Rain looks to be very limited and should stay mostly to our north and east unfortunately as temperatures tumble to the 50s overnight.

The cool weather will stick around until the first half of the weekend and then a gradual warm up takes place for the first half of next week, through Christmas. Then, a very strong front looks to arrive late Christmas night and send temperatures dropping into the30 and 40s for the middle and end of the week.

It should also be noted for Thursday, a Fire Weather Watch has been placed in effect for our northern counties due to the dry air and windy conditions that will take place Thursday afternoon. With dry vegetation, wildfire potential will increase rapidly and residents are urged to use caution when dealing with open flames outdoors.

Have a great day!
