CORPUS CHRISTI - Some of the warmest temperatures ever recorded in January unfolded over the Coastal Bend this afternoon as we hit the lower 90s out at Corpus Christi International. Hitting the lower 90s shattered the old record of 86 set back in 2008 and also (so far as of 3:15PM) we have tied hottest temperature every recorded in the month of January of 91 degrees which was previously recorded on January 30, 1971.

This evening, a Pacific cold front will move through South Texas around 7-11PM with our northern and western counties seeing frontal passage earlier and our southern and eastern counties seeing it pass a bit later. Winds will make a dramatic shift to the north-northwest around 15-30mph with higher gusts possible. The clouds will begin to clear out as cooler and drier air filters in the overnight hours. Lows should drop into the upper 40s to lower 50s. For now, rain chances have almost completely fizzled out with only a few light showers expected and totals not impressive at all.

Wednesday looks very nice with sunny skies and much cooler temperatures that should only top out in the mid-70s. The winds will still be brisk for the first half of the day around 15-25 out of the northwest, but they should begin to ease back down the further into the afternoon and evening we get.

The 70s will stick around through the weekend as far as afternoon highs and nighttime temperatures will fall into the upper 30s to lower 40s on Thursday morning before recuperating into the 50s for the end of the week and into the weekend. There looks to be a very weak front arriving late Saturday that will bring a few clouds, but no rain and almost no difference in temperatures either. Another front, also weak, looks to arrive early next week as well.

Have a great day!
