CORPUS CHRISTI - A man serving a 20-year sentence for a stabbing is hoping a judge will give him another chance at a trial.
Robert Ramirez, a known gang member, is serving time for stabbing someone at a cemetery and for a home invasion. His attorney made a motion for a new trial, or at least a reduction in his sentence.
Ramirez and a group of friends got into a fight with another group of men at Rose Hill memorial Park a couple of years ago. He pulled a knife and stabbed a man twice in the stomach.
Two others arrested for the crime only received probation.
A decision on the request by Ramirez's attorney could come as soon as this afternoon.
