LAREDO - Prosecutors will seek the death penalty for a Texas man accused of fatally shooting two boys in a Laredo hotel room.
A Webb County grand jury indicted Demond Bluntson on two capital murder counts Wednesday in the deaths of his 1-year-old son, Davian, and Davian's 6-year-old brother, Jayden Thompson. District Attorney Chilo Alaniz says Bluntson's is the first death penalty prosecution since 1991 in the county on the Texas-Mexico border.
Bluntson also has been charged in Wharton County in the slaying of the children's mother, 28-year-old girlfriend Brandy Cerny in El Campo.
Police say Bluntson shot both boys in a Laredo hotel room June 19 after police arrived. Cerny's body was found with multiple gunshot wounds hours later 200 miles away in El Campo.
