CORPUS CHRISTI - Jurors in the murder trial of Lawrence Mireles heard incriminating testimony from the defendant's ex-girlfriend who claims he confessed to killing a 16-year-old girl shortly after she disappeared.
Prosecutors believe the murder was a hit against Jenna Hernandez to prevent her from testifying against a man charged with assault.
Jenna was set to testify last summer in a trial that would revoke the probation of Josh Davis.
Another witness told jurors she was inside the truck of Davis's father when he said, "he had to make sure she didn't testify in court."
Mireles faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Earlier this month, Josh Davis was arrested in Aransas Pass for allegedly intimidating a witness in the Mireles trial.
