NEBRASKA - It's the dance making headlines on social media. 22 students came to the home of Andy and Tammy White to take pictures before Pierce High Schools spring prom.
Andy White, who owns the bridge, said, "We have a senior daughter Alisha and she wanted to know if she could have some friends come out and take pictures. They have done that in the past, usually inside. They decided to come and get a picture on a couple of the bridges here and they didn't opt for the more sturdy one and they got 21 or 22 of them on this back one and it turned out to be a little too much weight."
All that weight caused the group to take dip in the White's four-foot deep pond behind their house.
Alisha White, high school senior, said, "The first thing I thought about when I went into the water was 'oh my gosh everyone is going to be so mad at me.' This is my fault because I planned this and that made me super upset. But then everyone was really nice about it and said its not your fault, you didn't know that was going to happen. There was nothing you can do."
Minus a few scrapes, and a ton of wet tuxes and dresses, the group made it out without serious injuries. By the end of Saturday night, the gang was the talk of Pierce. Then one member of the Pierce Prom Plunge party posted a picture of the incident to Twitter.
Through all the new found fame, these students have learned what type of impact a single post on social media sites can have.
