LONDON - Prince Harry's assertion that he has killed Taliban fighters while deployed in Afghanistan is drawing intense media coverage in Britain and sparking concerns about possible reprisals.
The Daily Mirror ran a page-one headline "Royal Sensation Harry: I Killed Taliban" on Tuesday along with a photo of a macho-looking Harry in combat gear and designer shades.
Other newspapers ran similar gung-ho stories about the prince's military exploits.
His comments were made during a 20-week deployment as a gunner in a British Apache helicopter that has just come to an end. The interview was released for publication Monday night after the 28-year-old Harry was safely out of Afghanistan.
Former officer Charles Hayman, who edits a yearbook on British forces, said the comments may raise the already high threat level against Harry.
