CORPUS CHRISTI - People are driving up to more pain at the pump on this Easter weekend.
Gas prices are in the middle of their typical spike in the spring, and many drivers say they're having a hard time keeping up.
Prices in Corpus Christi are now averaging $3.48 a gallon for regular unleaded, according to GasBuddy.com.
That's up six cents from last week, and up 20 cents from just a month ago. Joe Mondragon, who lives in Portland, says the prices at the pump usually keep him close to home.
Although he is heading out of town for Easter, he says if prices continue to go up, it's an expense that he may not be willing to take on for upcoming holidays and the summer.
"It's too much. I mean, for us to be paying that price and we have a lot of oil and gas. It's not right," Mondragon says.
Things are only expected to get more painful at the pump over the next month. Analysts expect a hike of ten cents or so by May.
The first time we'll see a noticeable drop in prices, experts say, is in September. They predict the national average will fall below the $3.50 mark at that time.
