(Corpus Christi) - An elderly woman is recovering in the hospital after police say a teenager attacked her with a knife. This happened last night on Terlingua street in Portland. Police say the woman was sleeping when a 16-year-old broke into her home and stabbed her several times. She managed to fight back and scare the guy away. Police followed a blood trail and caught him, but when police were handcuffing the man, one of the officer's guns went off and hit the guy in the leg. That man faces several charges including attempted murder. Texas rangers and the San Patricio County sheriff's office are investigating. Both the victim and suspect are in stable condition.
