CORPUS CHRISTI - A swath of land near Port Aransas is - at least for now - not for sale or lease after Port Corpus Christi commissioners voted this morning to take it off the market.
You'll remember we recently reported Port Aransas city leaders are pushing to rezone the port-owned land - known as Harbor Island - to block any plans to build a refinery.
It was a move city leaders told us is meant to protect the town's thriving tourism business.
But Port Commission Chairwoman Judy hawley told KRIS-6 that while the port wants to be a good neighbor, today's decision, was strictly business.
"We really decided it's in the best interest of the port's mission and our future needs to just remove the property at this point in time" she said.
Hawley declined saying what level of interest is now being shown for the land.
